Week Three EOC: Making Money Good

Nike is a world-renowned company and in order to keep their name as a “good” company, they have created the knowledge of Nike Grind. “Using technology developed by Nike engineers, footwear manufacturing byproducts are processed and refined into the material called Nike Grind.” http://traininggroundusa.com/nikegrind.html. Now, you are thinking that Nike Grind “reuse-a-shoe” is about donating shoes and then Nike Company sending them to a distant third-world country that is in need. However, “if you thought your kicks had seen their last play, think again. As Nike Grind, they could become part of an athletic surface, such as a court, track, field or playground – and pre-consumer material could even get used in new shoes and apparel.” http://www.nikereuseashoe.com/where-it-goes. Nike has been a growing company that is strictly for working/athletic consumers. “But all shoes...eventually come to the end of their useful and safe life – which is why it’s important to only donate shoes that are still wearable and safe.” http://www.nikereuseashoe.com/the-impact/about-shoe-recycling/shoe-recycling-or-shoe-donation. So they created a new way of making their OWN materials count towards something more. With that said, they are accepting of non-Nike branded shoes as well. Donation and Reuse is, in fact, Donation and Reuse no matter the label pasted on the material. Nike has found their own way to give back to the communities which consume their products daily. Are YOU a company or organization that does that? Even the smallest notion can create a huge impact on a single person. And if that person spreads YOUR charity, it will all pay for itself. If you have a grand notion in mind, start small, you never know where it will end up. One can always grow into something much more.
