Week Five EOC: Social Networks and Job Hunting

I think the possibility of being a representative for a preferred or favorite company would be outstanding; to be able to spread the word about something I absolutely love and am passionate for would make the life I lead even more amazing. “…the number of job postings overall has bounced back from the depths of the recession…” (Recruiters Troll Facebook for Candidates they Like, Wall Street Journal, 2). Reading this article made me truly realize what and how often something as simple as a single website for communication, like Facebook, saves a life. We only tend to register the bad news or shocking news, so when we hear something like how someone was bullied via chat sources, no one is surprised because that’s practically all we hear about. But we never hear how someone snatched a job through a website just by following or liking. Who knows, that job may have saved that person or even family from the results of foreclosure even. Why do we not hear about this positive stuff? “…intrigued by the idea of a flexible 10–15-hour workweek and the possibility of training…” (Marketing an Introduction, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, 144). Getting the chance to go somewhere for a one-day training session in order to work with a company that has changed your own life would be a miracle itself. To be so passionate and excited about something for THEM would easily help their marketing standards. When one person is bright and happy in a room full of desolate faces, eventually more will join in on the fun because people prefer to be having fun. So, to have a sales rep in your company that is entirely devoted and excited about your product would benefit you in both the short and long run.YOU get an employee who WANTS to be there, and THEY get a job in something they are excited about. Win-Win.
