Side Matter - Phileas Fogg

Side/Back Matter - Adventure
I, Phileas Fogg, make a stop in Guyana. Inspired by the lush forests and the rumor of their secret white balls, I nonchalantly lurked about, seeking their discovery. As I was walking the life of Guyana the rainforest to my side simply enthralled me. I decided to take some extra moments and search it out. I had just gotten off the beaten path when a hailstorm of rocks pelted down from above. I ran out from under them in the only direction available and ran right into a large, out-of-place boulder sitting in the middle of the forest ground. It made me curious so I began to walk around the boulder. I got halfway and there was a small openingjust large enough to fit an average native. Swift native arrows began striking the ground just beside me. In a frantic escape I found my hips stuck in the opening. Thoughts of continuing inside only touched the fringes of my mind as I felt a warm trickle on my shoulder. An arrow just glazed over my skin as the scent of iron l swathed my nostrils. Quickly I forced myself the rest of the way out of the opening. Suddenly, I was surrounded by shrub. Vines encircled my sight as my bare feet, adrenaline churning stomach, and pumping arms surged through the damp rainforests of Guyana. There were authorities on my heels and I was growing desperate for a drink. I had been caught red-handed as I innocently stuffed a handful of some native snack into my deep pockets to satiate my growling stomach. I glanced back and saw nothing but heard the feet pounding behind me, closing in on me. I saw a flash of red as a native came into view directly at the side of my vision. I yelled as I saw the line of safety come into view. I pumped harder and ran faster, faster than I thought I could muster. Abruptly, all was silent the very moment I crossed the invisible line to safety. Desperate for a deep intake of air I bend over and steadily breathe for a moment or two. I take a few minutes and withdraw the snack from my pockets. They are white. They are what I needed. I pop one into my mouth and the flavor explodes inside. Coconut mixed with salty cashews hidden inside. My mouth waters for more relentlessly.

The whole adventure will be foun on the bag containing the Coconut/Cashew balls. Each single sold package will have a small piece of the adventure to get the consumer hooked and want to buy the whole bag!

Week Ten EOC: What are the Benefits vs the Features

Keep your heart healthy and boost your immune system while being perched on a stool in a bar and munching these coconut bites filled with protein enhanced cashew bits. These are only some of the benefits of our Around the World in Eighty Days snack line. Benefits are what people can gain from consuming or purchasing a product; a factor that gives you an advantage on, in this case, your body. You can still take care of yourself while drinking because of these vitamin and health enhanced bits, while still tasting delectable. Enjoy a new experience which gains you a new tale to relay as you take small but important steps to keeping your health up and running full throttle.

Features are simply an attribute or characteristic of a product which makes your mind go “get it!” A feature of this product could simply be the elegant box which contains the round adult lined treats, or the fact that coconut is white which says to the brain “light” or “fresh.” Features are those which cause something to nudge you toward one decision versus the other. Let me ask this: if I place a fresh looking box filled with perfect white balls and tell you there is a secret inside each ball, the secret feature would entice you enough to try just one.

Implementation Evaluation Control

Reevaluate every fiscal year.
“Marketing, alone, can’t create superior customer value. Under the companywide strategic plan, marketers must work closely with other departments to form an effective internal company value chain and then must work with other companies in the marketing system to create an overall external value delivery network that jointly serves customers” (Marketing an Introduction, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, 47).

“The macroenvironment consists of the larger societal forces that affect the microenvironment—demographic, economic, natural, technological, political, and cultural forces. We look first at the company’s microenvironment” (Marketing an Introduction, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, 67).

“A firm can obtain new products in two ways. One is through acquisition—by buying a whole company, a patent, or a license to produce someone else’s product. The other is through the firm’s own new-product development efforts” (Marketing an Introduction, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, 245).

Price

4-6 oz $4.99
6-8 oz $6.99

“In the narrowest sense, price is the amount of money charged for a product or service. More broadly, price is the sum of all the values that customers give up in order to gain the benefits of having or using a product or service” (Marketing an Introduction, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, 275).

“It [the company] must know what impact its prices will have on other parties in its environment” (Marketing an Introduction, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, 285).

“U.S. advertisers now run up an estimated annual advertising bill of more than $290 billion; worldwide ad spending exceeds an estimated $604 billion. Procter & Gamble, the world’s largest advertiser, last year spent $4.8 billion on U.S. advertising and $8.5 billion worldwide” (Marketing an Introduction, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, 386).

“The definition of sales quota is “a standard that states the amount a salesperson should sell and how sales should be divided among the company’s products” (Marketing an Introduction, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, 426).

“Good ethics are a cornerstone of sustainable marketing.” (Marketing an Introduction, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, 535).
